More in depth subspace signals.
« on: November 24, 2010, 04:08:35 pm »
I thought I was being smart, trying to send in a diversion force into enemy territory, to let my survey ship survey the planet. Unfortunately, I finished surveying, and BAM, enemies warp in and blow up my "shard" in a matter of a couple minutes, and now I am getting no more subspace signals. It would be nice if the Journal would say, "bring forces" or something of that matter.

The first journal sending you after a shard says "Scans also show increased AI warp activity in that area.  While this lab cannot issue military recommendations, for the sake of our team I personally request that you carry a very large stick."

This is a semi-poetic way of telling you to bring forces.

Yes, but it says it after they discover it...I attempted to send forces to the area to escort it, but they couldn't make it in time before the enemy destroyed it.

No, it says that after you survey the first signal, the one on your homeworld, at the same time as it is asking you to send your survey ship to the AI planet.

At least, that's what it did the last time I tested it.

I thought it was clear enough when I read it, after all I don't bring lone ships into AI systems ;). You can kill the warp gate and make sure that there are no hostiles in the other systems, but the AI do not want you to have th shard, and it shows it, so having some forces, or even those spire shield bearers (they are awesome for these things) :)

But, better luck next time :)

And if the shard is in a system in-suppply, you can cover it with an ordinary forcefield generator, which while still slow are much more mobile than they have been in the past.
