why do ships get stuck?
« on: November 04, 2010, 10:54:56 am »
I'm pretty sure theres no tractor beam turrets on the glaxy I'm at, but some of my ships are stuck there. at first i thought it might be a feature because some of the ships are low on health..but even some with green health, they're stuck. with them highlighted, and right click any where, it just won't budge!

whats going on? ???

A number of things can happen, though I'm not sure exactly what you mean.

Do you mean that the ships will not move at all when given a normal move order, or will not go through a wormhole when you tell them to?

In the first case, it could be engine damage from stuff that causes it; if the second case it could be a black hole machine.

There are also paralyzing weapons and emps that can render a ship totally unresponsive for a period of time.

Sounds like they have got engine damage.

Try sending an engineer to help them.

If they have a red outline when you're zoomed out they have engine damage. You can also hover over them and the popup card will show the engine health and current speed. If they do have engine damage, as Ozymandiaz suggested, you can send an engineer or MRS to repair them and they will begin moving normally again.

They will also have a red outline if they are paralysed.
Paralysis is stacks, I suppose it is possible for it to get paralysed for a long duration.

Should be listed along with if its engine dead when having your cursor over it to look at stats.
