beachheading?
« on: March 18, 2014, 07:18:05 pm »
I saw this mentioned in a thread.  I've been digging around and found the AI beachhead ship but can't dig up anything on it from the players standpoint.
Is it a way to get a foothold in AI systems or something?  I could use that!

If you have supply in a system (the galaxy map will tell you, this isn't limited to your own planets), you can build in it. Build a Mobile Builder and send it in to build things with defenders, and then you have a foothold. Pretty sure theres a guide about it somewhere here.

Typically, you'll have supply in any system adjacent to one that you control (there are some structures that can block this, and certain weapons/AI features/AI plots can cause planets to never have supply again after the planet gets hit by whatever causes the supply loss).

Three threads that have some stuff about player-beachheading:
http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,13369.msg156458.html#msg156458
http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,11391.0.html
http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,9790.0.html

Note that the first two may have mostly the same information, at least in the OP; I didn't check, but the poster who made the first also made the second of the linked threads. You may be able to find more by clicking the link to the AI War Strategy forum at the top of the general forum page and entering 'beachhead' or some similar keyword into the search bar in the upper right corner.

Thanks for your help.  I did indeed try searching the forums before I asked but as we all know, forum searches are always fruitless. heh.  In my 22 years on the internet i don't think it's ever found anything useful for me.  Something about keywords and text forums just doesn't fly.

yes. it's in the Kahuna's guide.  I've found though I get a lot more out  of game guides after I've played a while and figured out the basics than If I read them cold so I've just gone through it.
