The Story of the AI
« on: February 28, 2015, 09:23:20 am »
I've always really liked the idea for the backstory to this game. In my spare time I sometimes write short stories. So I have a question to ask. Would it be okay if I wrote a story based on the premis of this game?

I'm planning on setting it in the past ie: before the AI turns against the humans. Or perhaps more specifically the moment where the AI is actually turning evil and begining to cooperate. How the humans react to this and what they try and do to stop it. I've got a few ideas for characters as well, but spoilers! Keep in mind I'm not really going to bother with the aliens except for mabye a few mentions of artifacts here and there as well as adapted alien technology.

So yeah, is it okay for me to do this without really worrying about copywrite stuff? Cause I'd like to post it online as well once I've finished.

Cheers.

I would imagine that in regards to copyright, as long as you are not usurping rights from Arcen and releasing your story without profit you would be fine.
Life is short. Have fun.

Right right.... so as long as I don't make any money off of it and just credit them for the universe it's set in it should be fine?

If you want to respect Arcen's copyright, I would suggest getting in touch with Chris directly via a pm and discuss it with him.

That is your best bet of figuring out what will be acceptable.

This.  Chris is pretty cool about people doing stuff (a huge portion of Arcen's game sprites* are Creative Commons, YouTube plays are encouraged, etc.), but he'd be the one to say "yes" or "no."
