Licenses and Unity
« on: September 25, 2010, 11:33:17 am »
I'm sure this must be answered somewhere, but I'm new to the boards and haven't been able to find an answer.

I'm a Mac user that just this game recommended to me. I'm way more interested in the MacOS X version than running in a VM or BootCamp. So my question is... if I buy the current version for Windows, when the Unity version comes out am I already covered, or will it require a new purchase?

I assume given how close the release is I'd be covered for Unity, but would like to know for sure. I have no problem purchasing in advance of the Unity version, so long as I don't end up buying it twice because I was 14 days too quick on the trigger. :)

Thanks!

Yes, one key will work across all versions and platforms.

Ninja'd -- but, yes, we consider Mac and PC to be interchangeable for licensing. Buy one, get both. I recently went through the hassle of changing my Photoshop license from the pc (where it was unbearably slow for me) to the Mac, but even prior to that experience I know how frustrating to be limited in computer os based on prior purchases. If we do versions of our games on consoles or on phones those would all be individually licensed like any other game, but when it comes to home computers we want to make it as easy as possible to play our games on multiple OSes, to switch OSes, or whatever they want to do.

Cheers, and thanks for your support!

Thanks to both of you. License now purchased. :) I'll just have to decide whether I want to run it before the Unity release!

This game is great... no need to wait for the unity release, the gameplay is there.

That's understood... it's just bootcamping the machine means reboots, etc. and I'm kinda lazy about that. :)

You want to run if before the unity release! Unity release, at least for a while, will be alpha/beta level, in need of polish. Jump right in with the wonderful .NET/Slim DX reqs, the muds fine...
