Let the beta get more wild
« on: May 28, 2010, 02:39:05 am »
As in my title, every beta update is so thought out there is almost no reason not to (aside from the big update  >:() My game never crashed cause of beta update and everything changed is like an official update. I know mainly it's to test for bugs and balancing issue but even like an update as big as 5/27/10 is greatly done, at most discussion and fix.

What i think is we should get a bigger beta tweaks for dedicated players and fans of ai war. Lots of funny balancing issues, discussing more and the best part is we can try out player decent ideas faster than ever.

Example:
Say this weeks "theme" is new unit: Golems. In that week (or 10 hours a day game) you will try to use this golem as much as you can or you can just use the coming up scenario editor and have fun with it. Players get happy, we get more feedback, and we put theory to paper to gameplay. end of the session we either take it out completely, buff it nerf it test it some more, and then go to the next theme. I always thought of beta of many bugs and many unbalancing things, but ai war never let's us do that. We go have a lot of fun (non hardcore players) and we get to pass ideas even faster. perhaps at the end of the month, we get to include that in the game.

Feel free to comment.

summary, instead of developers handpicking everything for us, we get to help them by testing out not very thought out but decent ideas. It's basically a sped up version of the current betas but x and keith get's all the fun ;) perhaps we can discover something we didn't like before actually fits into the game very well. and x can get less headaches from thinking how to rebalance the game.

So your asking for unstable BETA updates, crazy and stupid ideas that waste the developers PRECIOUS time and players involvement increased.

Well, 1 of 3 has been achieved.  I'd say that Chris is doing a fine job listening to feedback and introducing fan-based ideas.  We have weekly elections on the best DLC on this forum, that alone imo is a great thing.  Considering that most companies do not even listen to feedback 99% of the time, they are a far step ahead of everyone.

So can I just ask this small question?

Can you quit posting ideas like this please?  Thanks.

You say he's rude, and in some cases he is, but i have to say that at the very least you're being quite blunt. Perhaps that's not the best idea, eh? :)

If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!

Oh, wait... *causation loop detonates*

nah, i have to keep posting threads like this ;)
I'm asking for stable (that unstable part was just a metaphor)beta updates that does uses more developer time to implement it but will create hours of fun time for beta testers. remember the hilarious moment where you find a cool exploit or the ai does something over and over again that sucks for them? Keep in mind these player ideas are already liked by many other players but for any reason not yet tested for the reason it takes to hard to balance it. we have so many players we can just let them test it for the developers. it's your choice if you decide to play the beta or not but for sure a faster way for ideas approved but not implemented. or even ideas that wasn't like but not implemented. So basically is a "If you go farther 1 mile, your fuel efficiency will grow a little" You do waste some little more oil for now, but you get a bigger payback.

Actually, my threads just depend on troll feeders (if that's what you call me) just like you king, so thanks for supporting my thread, without you no discussion will take place and the good or bad idea will never be determined.

I did ask nicely though :P

(I have a blunt personality, sorry, it comes through even when I don't intend to be as blunt as a hammer.)

And I do not support this thread.  Why I posted here is escaping me atm.

escaping me atm, what does that mean ???
and my answer is no, thx for supporting rubiks post usa
and keep your topic on the thread, kinda like making a brand new game and everything has to be tested but instead of giving x a headache, we get to experience some of the fun too. always an alternative if you facepalm too much, go back to original version.

to be fair rubik, you do post alot of crap :P

I'm not meaning to be offensive, but you *would* be banned on most the forums I frequent for your double posting, incoherance and pointless threads. you mentioned english was your second language, and that perhaps mitigates your grammar and spacing, but in terms of actual post content you really need to apply some quality control.

Yes, well, he just earned himself a temp 2-day ban in another thread, a bug report by wyvern83.  This thread, and the dozens of others like it, didn't help.  This is the first time we've had to resort to a temp-ban, in the past folks have cleaned up their act based on being talked to by a staff member or just by the community itself.  As that hasn't seemed to work this time, now we're entering the era of occasionally doing temp bans when the above fails.  I am not happy about this.

It unfortunately comes with moderating any forum  :-\

Thanks for cleaning up the forums. Should prob lock this thread though so that it doesn't turn into a big discussion about the ban, rubikscube, etc...just in case.
