I remember some kind of article about a breakthrough idea in your mind about how the AI would work. I either think it was AI Progress, or it was the idea that the AI just warps things in instead of using human production means.

Oh, that's true.  But that was in March of 2009 or so, in private alpha, when only my dad, uncle, uncle's colleague, and myself had ever played the game.  By the time the game released, AIP was an integral part of it. :)

The overall asymmetry of the AI/player setup is one of the core ideas that made the whole thing possible, to be sure :)

Does that preclude the possibility of a future expansion allowing us to attack the AI's exo-galactic shipyards?

You seem to be planning to somehow plow the Devourer Golem into aforementioned shipyards.

I've not seen that clip of CM before.  Boy, that is some of the most pure, unbridled joy I think I've ever seen on a puppet. :D

For those missing the minimap, it's still there.

Also, I always did like the old menus.

I seriously am in favor of some kind of expansion that involves actually directly attacking the AI's nerve center so to speak. That is, the exo-galactic everything that they've got. Depending on how it's done, it could feel like an entirely new game, or simply up the stakes tremendously by offering a game with tremendously powerful enemies. If the AI home-planets in our system are as strong as they are, how strong must their exo-galactic forces be? If you can bring AI Progress up so high that tens of thousands of ships attack you at once, one wave after another, how many ships are there actually wherever the AI is doing business at?

To some extent, nothing we could ever do would be as amazing as what people are imagining, right?

That is not "Mini" in any way shape or form.. also takes 4 clicks to get in and out of. Unless you talk about something differently than I think of ;) (Planet View..)

All it takes is holding down the T key.

Well, considering the limits of the engine and processing power available, yeah, no, you will fall short.

I expect what you do do to be great though.
