Is FRD logic for the basic ships backwards?
« on: May 13, 2010, 11:16:51 pm »
I've started to notice that FRD bombers pursue fighters, while frigates pursue bombers.  I haven't specifically notice the behavior of fighters, so I will not comment on those.  I can probably come up with a save if it's needed?

I was testing with core frigates for paint attack and I noticed that they were going after the bombers much earlier in the group then I expected, but they definitely preferred the fighters if they were around (and those died like flies).

ideally FRD ships would actively avoid units that hardcounter them, or at the very least not chase them unless there were no prefferable targets in the anywhere in the system

It'd be nice if FRD ships only chase enemies they statistically loose against if there are no other allies who could do this job. So if you defend with fighters only, they would attack the bombers first, and then fighters and then frigates. But If you have a broad mix of ships, they will all try to avoid getting crushed.

If this is implemented, something must be done about some units that are labeled as "weak against everything, but stronger than the statistics say, especially in large groups" (-> eShuttle). Or maybe you just don't use these for defence and everything is just fine  :D
