Any chance the botnet golems being unable to zombify past ship caps bug that has cropped back up will be fixed by then? Or at least soon... Doesn't have to be for the release for me, but I'd be sad to wait months before it gets fixed. I understand having to cut off the bug list somewhere, so if it's not going to happen I can live with it. It just happens that I have a couple botnet golems I'm playing with in a game that I have running at the moment, so of course it seems to loom larger in my view.  :)

That's definitely post-5.0, but we'll try to get to it before too long.  It's not a simple issue, though, and is pretty likely to break something else.

Over a 3 hour lan session yesterday we got 2 desynchs in quick succession in the middle of a CPA - will post saves later when I get home from work.

Exactly. :)

Thanks for your support -- I know you're one of the two that are running into the last remaining one!

Yeah, its no biggie, we're still going to hunt it down.  :)  Or hopefully it disappeared in the BETAs into that land of magic.  Fingers crossed ;)

Bah, we'll manage ;) We'll just remember to restart our games if we are to play multiplayer.

These are the saves we made when it desynched.  Not sure whether you can replicate the desynch since if you load the saves it might just continue the game as if there were no problems.

Thanks for the saves :)  Were you able to keep going by reloading the saves (probably after restarting the application on all machines) ?

Yeah we managed to continue those games.

Still pretty annoying since every time we loaded, we had to wait for each client computer to synch up to me (the host).  What'd happen is the game would 'pause', and in the score screen you'd see:

Player 1 [turn = (for example) 10000]
Player 2 [turn = 10000]
Player 3 [Wait = 1436.  Turn = 9999]
Player 4 [Wait = 1243.  Turn = 9999]

Then every 20 seconds or so the 'Turn = ' goes up by a few, and the 'Wait' reduces by 50-100, and then it freezes up, so then it'll say something like:

Player 1 [turn = 10001]
Player 2 [turn = 10001]
Player 3 [Wait = 1346.  Turn = 10000]
Player 4 [Wait = 1190.  Turn = 10000]

Rinse and repeat about 15 times and the Wait will finally go down to 0 for all players, and then the game continues as normal.

Huh, that's odd, particularly that it would chug so hard for a while and then run smoothly.  If it were ye olde standard network finickyness it would be more constant.

Curious, is the app pegging the CPU (of one core, most likely) on the client or host machines during that massive slowdown time?

Well, for your own machine just Process Explorer (or Task Manager, if you don't have the other) will tell you if the AI War .exe is burning a core (or two, since you're host and have an AI thread).  For the non-host machines they'd have to check that themselves.
