Internet multiplayer
« on: November 25, 2009, 06:05:58 pm »
My dad is in Iraq and one of our favorite things to do together is play video games together. And this is a game that would be perfect for us to play together. But we cant do that since this is a lan multiplayer game, and my dad doesn't trust vpns and doesnt want me to use them either(for many reasons). I was wondering if you could implement an internet multiplayer, but i understand you want to keep it from being used like a game were only strangers meet, it can be were you have to input the hosts ip address. I dont ask that you do this just for me but for all the other gamers who want to play games with distant relatives(plus you may be looking at two more potential customers lol, i already bought the game and it is awesome!!!!!)

This game is fully Internet-capable already, don't worry!  In fact, most of our alpha testing was done over the Internet with four players and no VPN software.  You do have to type in the host's IP address when not on a LAN, and the host has to have a single UDP port open/forwarded to their machine, but that's it!  You can try it out with the demo first if you aren't confident it will work with your specific setup if there are unusual constraints, but it's designed for Internet play as much as LAN play.

Thanks for your interest in the game!

I have another question, If i add songs to the music list in the program files of the game does that have any side affects..i already have done this, but it just now occured to me that it may corrupt the game, I've been told about this from some of my friends who tried to do hacks like mine but it ends up ruining the game.

Haha, I wish I had known about this game earlier to be honest, since as you say it is a great game for playing with family and close friends.

Glad you are enjoying it!
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.
