Installation error on 1.013
« on: August 07, 2009, 04:33:16 pm »
For 1.013 I performed a fresh install of the game, so I downloaded the full 1.013 installer from download location #1 (FileFront) listed here: http://www.arcengames.com/aiwar_buy.php. The installer ran part way through, then complained about data1.cab being a corrupt file. I tried it again, then rebooted and tried it a third time, but still no luck. Guessing that the download might have been corrupted, I tried downloading it from download location #2 (GamersHell) and got the exact same error upon installation. Finally, I downloaded 1.010 from download location #4 (AusGamers) which installed just fine. From there, I used the internal patcher to get it up to 1.013.

I'm not sure if there's an issue with the 1.013 installer, or if something changed between the 1.010 and 1.013 installers that my computer doesn't like. However, in case anyone else runs into this same problem, that's what I did to work around it.

I can confirm this

Data1.cab is corrupt and the installer takes FOREVER to even get to that message - it does not procede if you ignore

Some weird extraction or MSI issue

I've posted a topic in the Technical Support forum on this issue with dumpsterKEEPER's advice, just in case any new players come to the forum looking for answers.

I'm sure X will deal with it swiftly when he returns.

Can I confirm that the attached error message is the same error you two are seeing?

For me there is no "file" mentioned, it aborts during loading the installer for me, but with the same error msg, minus the wormhole.ogg ;p

Yes, same here.  I don't recall it mentioning a specific file, just the reference to data1.cab.  The box I had the problem on is at work, so I can't immediately reproduce it to grab a screen.

Good call about putting it in the Technical Support forum, I didn't even think about that.

Me too, gives a message that data1.cab is corrupt.

Whew!  Thought the problem was only me.

Ditto on the cab file for me too. Just using an old 1.004 installer and patching it from flash drive at the moment.
