If I buy Ancient Shadows now, can I add it to Steam later?

Apologies if this has been answered previously. If I own all the other AI War games on Steam but purchase Ancient Shadows direct, can I later add it to Steam once it releases? I'd like to purchase it now to support Arcen but I don't want to have to download different portions of it from different providers, etc.

Yes.

In fact.  Pre-purchasing now adds it to your Steam install base game as Steam doesn't track the product keys of the expansion (can, but isn't required, as the expansions don't show up in your game list).

Strictly speaking, we can't guarantee that you'll be able to register the expansion key in steam, but as Draco18s said the expansion already works with the steam game.

That said, if you don't have AS through steam (or registered through steam, if that becomes possible) and need to do a full reinstall of AIW you might need to grab the AS expansion installer separately (from our website, for instance).  And steam would not remember the key for you, but you could use it just fine.

Anyway, after how long it took for AVWW keys to be registerable in steam I'm trying to emphasize that we're offering no guarantees or promises on being able to register a non-steam key in steam

Thanks for the info! I don't know if you guys have any control/input over it (or are allowed to say), but I'm hoping for a Steam sale on the base game and previous expansions around the time this puppy launches - a few friends have been intrigued by the Ancient Shadows concept but don't own the base game, I bet a sale will be enough to convince them.
