I was going to ask if the AI could theoretically defeat...

You-know-what at the end of the Spire campaign.

But then I watched as the 2 flagships ALONE instagibbed the AI Avenger.

Yeah, anyone want to make a save of them facing off against a 9999 AIP 10/10 Core AIs?
Signature out of date.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure by that point the ai has no hope -- you've won, regardless of difficulty. The trick is getting to that point in the first place, which is extremely hard!

I could give details but they'd be pretty spoilery ;)  Suffice it to say: the you-know-whats are quite killable and if they run into a really heavy set of AI exos can experience enough losses that they bog down rather than completing their mission.  But more keep spawning, so the AI's eventual defeat is effectively certain at that stage (unless it's pumping out exos that are on-average strong enough to fight the spawns, since the AI will keep getting tons of exos during this time).  On a Diff 10 game with 8 human homeworlds, that might just be possible.  But if you get that far on Diff 10 with 8 human homeworlds you're... well, almost certainly not human ;)
