I imagine the secret ship

fighters bombers frigates, easy as rock paper scissors.

What if to make the whole game somewhat more interesting, we get a new ship that's default as the default 3.

How dare i change the game mechanics that was here from 1.0?


Rock paper scissor theory

Seeing a wave coming to your planet , you make a ton of countering ships, which is good but you will rely on that too much. Making a new default class will make it 1>2>3>4>1 As you can see, 1 and 3 has no bonuses, 2 and 4,
Having a different ship type will make "If it's a different ship than the AI has, one has a big bonus against the other one" a thing of the past. Which will continue the player to build different ships.

Ship types too much
We have 415 different ships right now, but a lot of them has not fighter bomber or frigate weakness, Make a new ship and problem solved, more encouraging different ship building

Balancing affect
Due to a new DEFAULT ship type will basically take months balancing, it won't be implemented for now i guess.

New Roles
We have different roles for every bonus ship, but making a new ship we need to think of the role for this. What do we need  the new ship to do? It must be a basic role so it can't be recon stealthy. It can't be as powerful as a starship. It's a basic soldier that covers all other default ships flaws. Long range is dominated by frigates and sheer destruction is dominated by bombers. Shall we make it a mix of all? or a new ability all together. The ship cap is 198 for sure so too expensive, too op, or too "condition related" is all bad as we have bonus ships for this.


tl;dr
Need new ship to cover all other default ships flaws.

I do not need  it to be implemented but want it criticized

He's saying make the default ship triangle a default ship quadrangle :)

It's interesting, and i do think it's a viable idea, though would most definitely be for an expansion since that basically involves rebalancing everything around it (all other special ships so enough of them are strong against it, rebalancing ship caps to make up for the increased power you get from having another ship, etc.)

So what he's saying is an all around ship type decent at engaging all manner of enemy ships, but horrible at attacking turrets. Has a particular strength against anything that can shred all 3 regular triangle ships.

And yes i do believe that english is his second language (no offense intended).

Reprocessed OP for those that can't understand it:
Fighters, Bombers, Frigates, they have weaknesses as easy to understand as rock paper scissors.

Basically, he's saying that if you added another default ship type, then you'd have to really spread your construction across the 4 ship types as what you have on hand may not be effective at countering the target but won't get shredded.

I personally prefer quadrangle, it can refer to any sort of four-sided geometric form ;)

Thanks for backing me up :)

Now, what do people think of the OP's suggestion? i'm thinking possibly a fast melee ship since those are so cool. It would just be a plain one though, one that merely does damage and doesn't gain or lose health with attacking. All of the melee ships have some gimmick attached to it and sometimes i just want a plain melee ship.

no no no melee ship
that's like suggesting teleporting battle stations as it or even acid sprayers
need a multi functional, melee seems too specialized
