How to stop golem repair?

I have my engineers on FRD mode, and was wondering how I can stop them from repairing a regenerator golem as it's tanking my economy. Also, what are the best way to use experimental engineers? I have a few and it seems like maybe they are too efficient. Thx for any help.

well, if I don't want to keep a golem repaired I usually just send it to a different planet without any FRD engineers on it. And save it for later when my economy is getting better. haven't played with a regeneration golem yet though, so I do not know how different they are from the others.

What I do is to turn on "Engineers do not auto-assist low power ships" and then put my golem into low power mode when I don't want it repaired at the time
