CPAs in multiplayer games
« on: April 26, 2010, 03:53:44 pm »
Anyone think the numbers should be tweaked?

Yesterday Dragonfang, shadowote and I had a WAVE consisting of roughly 4,500 ships. Our CPAs are at ~3,000. Seems silly that when waves line up they are way more powerful than a CPA.

We crushed the wave btw :p

Yeah, the only thing that even gives us slight amounts of trouble is now that we've got to support planets every 2 hops along the way to the AI homeworld... but we've still got plenty of left over turrets and a 5000 ships fleet to cover that. Honestly, between the superfortress, radar jammer 2, shield inhibitor (still half built) and the lightning 3/tractor 3 combo plus all the other stuff like heavy beams and lasers, NOTHING is getting through.

Heck, even if you unlocked every ship on every planet to attack us we could probably take most of them out as long as they didn't hit all at once. Of course, if that planet dies, we'll be in serious trouble ;)

Well even if it's smaller, it's fundamentally different, since instead of spawning ships they are taken from the AI's own defenses.  Although 4500 threat from waves, surely some kind of multiplier is involved there, or high AI Progress?

Not anything extremely high, and no multipliers. Just difficulty 9 AIs, 350 AI progress.
