How many main planet colonies do you have?

What i mean by my title is how many chains of planets do you have, 1 planet is not a chain but like 3 and up is. of course your home command station will be one, i'm just curious how many people builds a brand new big colony out in the open just for the intention of expanding as capturing one planet is enough for the goodies

Generally none, though if there are a couple of good planets in a row then i'll capture both of them.

i might capture 3 or so around my home station, but once I'm good resource-wise, I generally find no real reason to build more than one station right next to each other, especially on a 80 planet map.

I'm guessing you meant to say a string of planet(s) is one unit and 3 planets or more make a string.

In that case very few other than the string  from/around my home planet.

If I want to hold a critical planet way out because of a factory or other capturable, I will often cap an adjacent planet so that if I lose the com station then I still have supply from the adjacent planet for the turrets/ship factories/etc. Gives me a better chance to recover.

ARS planets w/o anything else of interest I often cap just long enough to gain the knowledge and the free ship. Wil have to see with the kn-raiding nerf if I have to change my style much. I'm playing hub maps exclusivly right now. Later I will work on some other map style.
