Which ship to lead the fleet?

Which ship as in fighter bomber or frigate should be at the front of the fleet. we're assuming we're group moving so either frigates for even super long range attacking, or just wait for that few seconds to travel, and use fighters and bombers short range to your advantage.

Same thing with starships or when the fleet is circular. perhaps riot starships first to weaken the engine?

Well, generally I put my cheaper units (read: fighters) on the leading edge, either when going through a wormhole or moving around.  Auto-targeting will generally cause the initial enemy salvos to be fired at your nearer ships.  Also, minefields and heavy beam cannons will naturally apply their damage to the outer ships of the formation first.

I usually just select all my ships and group move em as a big blob, barring any spesific things that I need to do. Like sending all the fast fihgters to ninja the command station while my fleets stis still and soaks the incomming stream of hostiles. :)
