Heroic AI
« on: August 19, 2012, 06:24:23 am »
So I tried the new Heroic AI and um.. the AI Champions/Heroes/Whatever are quite OP :o

The AI Champions behave in a same way Crafty Spire's Spirecraft ships do. If you attack a planet you need to be ready to defend or you will die. Because the AI will send 3 MarkIII-V Ion Blasters and Shield Bearers. Heroic AI is like Spire Hammer+Crafty Spire x 2. If the AI Champions don't get nerfed Heroic should be Red AI. (The name should be red like Crafty Spire and Raid Engine because it's so hard).

Check out the saves and you know what I mean.

EDIT: oh.. and some of the champions are almost as powerful as Golems -______________-

I don't mind making it a red AI :)

Just making sure you know how the AI feels; it's using exactly the same unit defs as human champions except for not traversing blue wormholes or having direct-use abilities.

It gets more of them, sure, but that's kind of how the AI goes in general ;)

Iirc it uses frigates at tech level 1, destroyers at tech level 2, and cruisers at tech level 3+.

Translation: if it's a Heroic AI, don't let it get to tech level 3.

Maybe the AI Champions should become stronger over time? The higher the AIP the stronger the AI Champions get. If I've understood correctly that's how Spire Hammer works.

Heh. i just ran a test with double hero 7.3 with my normal set up. Got plowed by about 40 various champs. Heroic is definitely not to be taken lightly.

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

Spire Hammer works the same way Heroic works: frigates at I, destroyers at II, etc.

Cinth, does that normal setup involve 16 homeworlds? :)  Try it with Spire Hammer, see what happens ;)

I'm being called out? Good grief. What AI should I pair it up with?
Let's get encounter somewhere where I can play with them and I'll fire it up  :P

Was your earlier test with 2 Heroic AIs?  Then 2 Spire Hammers :)  Otherwise Spire Hammer + Vanilla is fine.

Challenge accepted. First order of business though. I needs mah champs. All 8 of them. So encounters need to be not so... umm.... improbable for me to clear.

For the record, the AI will send Destroyers at Tech level 1.

I have encountered an AI Human Shadow Destroyer at Minute 20 as loose threat.

Does Heroic AI give easy to farm xp for champion? because i assume they on death give ur champion xp for killing AI's. since in small maps like i had this problem with 30. where i taken all XP i could but still short. (i spent to much by i bought 1 more upgrade than i should have. :( ) if this AI gives Xp this be great. ^^

Pretty sure Heroic gives xp the same way other AI types do. And Heroic definitely doesn't make anything easier than other AI types even if AI Champions gave a lot of xp on destruction. AI Champions are brutal.

I haven't played around much with Champion so I'm not sure how the leveling and stuff works. If I've understood correctly doing the nebula/blue wormhole missions are the best way to level up and develop your champion.

As far as I can tell, killing the destroyers the AI sends does not give your champion XP.   Guard posts, command stations, and nebulas are the keys to champion XP.    Depending on how you play the nebulas, you can milk them for a ton of XP.  In the 7/7 game I was duoing last night we got to level 14 from the first nebula.
