I don't understand this screenshot (Tachyon problem)
« on: November 02, 2009, 03:03:14 pm »
There is a tachyon detector nearby (seen by the yellow lines going from it) and I can't kill it, despite having my own (just to the right, in red lining) decloaker... How can it be? How can I kill a cloaked tachyon detector?

At that zoom, I really can't tell what is going on very well.  The stealth tachyon beam emitters should be able to be revealed by your decloaker or whatever else, and then your other ships can kill it.  Possibly there is a bug related to this, but I haven't heard anyone else mention it, so it's possibly some sort of strange edge case.  If you're at a planet with a planetary cloaker, for instnance, those get perma-cloaker and can't be revealed until the planetary cloaker itself is destroyed...

Assuming the yellow/red ships are the enemy's, your ships will kill off the enemy stealth tachyon turret after they've killed off the rest of it, since the auto targeting stuff considers it to be the least important.

Incidentally, is it possible to order your ships to attack ships in "intermediate" stealth mode (cloak compromised by a detector but not fully revealed?)  I haven't been able to figure out how to do it - right-clicking the little "stealthed ship bubble" just seems to just issue move orders to my ships.

I can't target it... I see from where the yellow lines are originating. My tachyon is well in the range of detecting the UFO ... and there is no planetary cloaker. Still, no luck, so this is a problem.

I solved my problem, sorry for the trouble. My tachyon was unsupplied, so would not reveal the enemy ship.

All is clear now...

I must have looked at that pic a dozen times and didn't even notice the red outline around the tachy. Talk about selective viewing  ::)

A red outline around a ship (similar to group move or attack move outlines) means it isn't receiving supply. Would have been pretty hard to see in that pic with ships and weapons fire everywhere.

Every time I raid I somehow manage to bring a ship that relies on supply, and every time I get to my target I wonder why it doesn't work. :P
