Well... for suggestions, someday it would be really nice to have them there, too, but there's a huge number of them that will take a gargantuan effort to move.  But having the better searching capabilities, etc, would be a huge plus.

When it comes to the bug reports on the forum, I've disabled the bug reports forum for new posts specifically because if we have a place for people to submit, they will.  I don't think the bug tracker is any more complex or obscure than the forums (except by the fact that they are new), so I wouldn't expect long-term problems from that.

I do want to get public view access on the bug reports working, though...

Okay, emails in the bugtracker aside from the initial email on signup were previously not working.  Now they are -- hooray!  Now we'll get emails when bug reports are submitted, and you'll get emails when bug reports you're involved in are updated.

Very nice!

If you're to put in suggestions, I'd suggest a far more granular set of categories than just "Suggestion - General Idea" and "Suggestion - Gameplay".   For now, I'd just say that in order for an idea to be submitted for one of the weekly suggestion polls,  that it must be entered into the bug tracker first.  All the popular ideas will filter in there quite rapidly, without the need for the massive undertaking of moving all suggestions there.

That's a good point.  And, yes, definitely we'd have more suggestion categories by far if that were to be where they go.  I suppose I'll go ahead and set that up, actually...

While I'm on a roll, is there a way to enter in "Version # bug observed in" and "Version # resolved for"?  You have some folks that will be on official builds, and some on the latest beta, and some a few versions back... Right now I see people reporting on the abstract/headline piece...

I went ahead and put in some broad version numbers -- basically the version number groups, rather than each specific version number.  Should be good for at least telling what group of versions something was in...

on the subject of bugtracking, would it be possible to create specific project bug sections? 'all projects' seems like it might filter into the same place for both tidalis and aiwar bugs from the developer point of view

There are two sections: AI War and Tidalis.  It makes you choose one when reporting a bug, or you can choose one at the top right.

well yes, i understand that I as a user can select the different projects, but it seems to me that as a bugfixer, the 'all projects' items would be listed in the same window - tidalis and aiwar bugs in a stack together, for instance.
is this not the case? ( as bugfixer, are you also only viewing bugs based on project?)

I'm not quite sure I follow -- I can see "All projects" or either one individually.  Can you not?

ok..
No, I can not see what you can see. the issue was never what I could see.. it was to what end the 'all projects' would mix and create an issue on your end.. but i suppose thats a nonissue, given what youve said.

Oh -- are you referring to the categories?  That's a misleading thing.  The reports are all per-project no matter what, but some categories are spanning multiple projects.  Regardless, it filters by project even when those are used; they just don't have to be created specifically each time we make a new project is the benefit.
