Possible minor bug with Adv. Research ships.
« on: November 29, 2009, 08:16:48 pm »
I'm playing through my first campaign, and I believe I found a bug when using Advanced Research stations to do knowledge raiding.

My map had two systems with Adv. Research stations two systems apart.  I found that if I moved a captured advanced research station into an enemy system containing an advanced research station that I've not yet captured, it displays "exhausted", even though the galaxy map shows the system as 0/2000 knowledge acquired.  Once I took control of the system, both the station I moved there, and the one captured by taking the system began adding the the knowledge pool and functioned normally.

In most cases, you would take the system to get the additional shiptype, but if this is a consistent issue, if you ever found a situation where you would want to do knowledge raiding in a system with an advanced research station, while using an advanced research station, you would find yourself unable to.

This is in version 2.0 of the original AI war.

If you're outside of your supply zone (i.e. there's not a Command Station one hop away) Research Stations always show "Exhausted", don't they?

Ah crap, I didn't realize they needed supply to function.  That explains it.
