Guardian numbers
« on: May 09, 2013, 11:37:40 pm »
Guardian numbers seem...off.

1:15:00 into my easier 9 games, I have two worlds with over 20 guardians on them.

Is this intended? They hurt. Really, really bad. Especially enclave ones.
Life is short. Have fun.

How many guard posts, and how many guardians per guard post?

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.

How many guard posts, and how many guardians per guard post?

5 and 4.

What I was more alarmed with was how quickly they grew. Around 5 or so guardians per post. Granted, it was 9/9, but even then it was at most 60 AIP and less then 90 minutes into the game. With the new guardian updates I was expecting them to grow a bit...slower.
Life is short. Have fun.

I'm just making sure this is intended behavior  ;)

I can work around it, for sure, just making sure the guardians approaching capping their numbers in less then 90 minutes into a game.

Some of them wanted more pain, doesn't mean the base game should give it to everyone ;)

Anyway, it's possible some of the reinforcement logic is letting there be more guardians now, dunno.  It should have a per-guard-post cap (4/5 on that diff doesn't sound out of the ordinary), and in any event the rate of growth wouldn't have gone up.

Yea, I think we need logs to be able to see if something fishy is going on or if the AI in your game just decided to spend most of their "points" in guardians.

Wait, do guardians use "reinforcement points", or is the mechanic for how the AI "pays" for them different than normal reinforcements?

As another clue, on of those two posts was alerted at game start, another alerted at...20 minutes in?

Another alerted on site world, a IV, has no guardians on it.

This isn't a world adjacent to you homeworld, right?  Because those should have zero.  If they don't, that would certain be a problem.  I only ask because you say it was alerted from the beginning of the game.

And if I recall from reinforcement, I thought a Guard Post that wasn't at its Guardian cap got one free during reinforcement.  Or maybe there was a chance.  But I don't think it counts against the budget if I recall correctly.

One of the worlds has no guardians and was IV.

Another world, a II, had 26 guardians with 4 posts and was II.

This was at 1:15:00

Both were next to my HW.

There aren't supposed to be any guardians on the planets adjacent to your home. Or mkII worlds, for that matter (should be mkI).
If warheads can't solve it, use more warheads.

Dug deeper, I was mistaken.

Which means in about an hour a 4 guardpost world on easier difficulty had 26 guardians with sub 70 AIP on 9/9

All the AI worlds have over 20 guardians on them if they have the needed posts.

AI HW have 38 mk V's
