Giveaway of the day
« on: November 11, 2009, 04:13:49 am »
Have you considered trying to get a slot on Game Giveaway of the Day (two links there)? From what i can tell they pay you for all of the copies of the game they give away and it might get you quite a lot of publicity!
Avid League player and apparently back from the dead!

If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!

Oh, wait... *causation loop detonates*

That sounds like an interesting system!  Could be worth it (though the games section looks rather empty).
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

They've been running for several months, possibly over a year and while they don't cover any big-name software they appear to be above-board.

Pretty sure its been a year or two now, and yeah they don't tend to have very good games in general(I've grabbed a few in the past), but they are pretty legit from at least the consumer side(no clue how the distributor side works).

At $20, X pretty much IS giving the game away.

Unless people like me have no access to online banking options... generally, people who visit those kinds of sites aren't interested in buying anything though.

Sorry, I've been meaning to reply to this thread -- I'll shoot them an email at least, and get more info from the distributor side.  No idea if I'll be able to share details of that, given that they may have an NDA, but if it is a favorable deal this could be cool.  I can't imagine how they are compensating the developer, though -- the wording of their language is very open, so it could be they pay the developer 10% or something.  We'll see what it turns up, at any rate!

Sweet, if they do pay you well, and you get a spot, that link is going on every forum I can find. :) I've already almost convinced my roommate to buy the game, he likes how I bombard my enemies with 1000s of ships. :P

So I talked to the folks at GiveawayOfTheDay, and it's easy to see why there are no good games being given away on their service, let's just say.  They pay a pittance, so it's essentially just giving away your product for virtually nothing, and completely shooting yourself in the foot if real customers see it. :/
