Deep Space Travel

Shouldnt that be possible? This would be a slower way to travel than my hyperjump suggestion, but it wouldnt be limited to larger ships such as transports and starships. This would not have the abillity to choose any location on the planet and just warp there but atleast you can enter the planet without being mauled by "build-up" ships upon entrance.

The planets are very far apart, and humans don't necessarily have the technology to do that.  See The Forever War. :)

ok why not have a zenith speed frigate? extremely fast and lethal but has a low ship count.

Possible might do that at some point, but it's not high on my list of things I'd like to accomplish next -- right now having choke points is good for defense -- yours as well as the AIs -- and I think that's pretty relevant.  A warp ship is planned that they players will get access to (it was planned for the expansion but got cut for time/scope), and I imagine that will come out in the next couple of months.

I'd always thought that EVE had a neat idea about deep travel with Cynosural fields. One ship acts as a beacon so that capital ships can warp to the location.

Maybe you could have a capturable alien technology, like golems, that act as 'warp gates'. There are two ships, and both must be found in the map. One ship acts as the exit, another acts as the entrance. The entrance ship emits a field, that when activated, transports all ships within the field radius to the exit ship. Counterpoints could include being very weak, massive energy usage, limit of jump distance, delay before transported ships can move and extremely long recharge time.

I would prefer that it would be buildable. Golems are nice but if you keep on adding all the cool features to the list of "hope you find it before you win the game list" is sort of bland. I think that all starships and other large ships like transports and golems should be aloud to warp. It makes alot of since.

I'm thinking about warps over large galaxy distances though, which is extremely powerful when used right.
