Game of the month Jan-Feb 09
« on: January 23, 2010, 10:53:43 pm »
Ok guys, i figured id host the first GotM. Rules and info are as follows:

 * 40 Planet map
 * Infiltrators as special ship
 * Two (count 'em, two!) lvl 10 attritioner AIs.
 * Astro Trains and Mines disabled.
 * 8k knowledge has been "pre-invested" in MkII and MkIII MKLRS turrets + MkI Gravitational turrets.

You may take as many shots as you like, but be sure to post your finished savegame here before the end of the 23rd of Febuary for inspection!

Survive as long as you can; the winner (as in, highest number on the clock at time of death which is when you save it) gets to pick the next dastardly scenario!
Avid League player and apparently back from the dead!

If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!

Oh, wait... *causation loop detonates*

I'm going to assume the pre-spent knowledge is intended to be a handicap. Basically makes it impossible to win.

No, you notice it is in defensive tech. The goal is not to win, it's to hold out as long as possible!

rofl, if I had enough time I would see to it myself!  That, I leave for the lot of you to enjoy.

I assume the AI progress increase has been modified to lovely amounts?

I mean you won't even be able to take planets. Which means you'll be stuck with at most one tier II unit and all tier I units. Seriously, if you can manage to capture a planet with these settings, massive props to you. And if you can't capture planets, everyone will have essentially the same strategies towards survival.

Whatever, *cracks knuckles* let's do this.

I'm calling BS on that one xD

at 25 minutes in, 800 assorted ships came in through a wave to the home planet. I died mere minutes later

Not to mention 4 special forces posts near the homeworld.. (an ARS two jumps away.. But I never made it that far.)

The attrition things are only a minor annoyance to light starships, and oddly, I thought I was doing well until that 800 ship wave.

Infiltrators are fairly good at destrying turrets it seems, if you can get over the fact that they die immediately to attrition emitters.
Oh, and that snipers seem to 2 shot them. *sigh*
