Assault Transports range is bugged
« on: September 22, 2014, 10:19:55 am »
Assault Transports' auto kiting and/or range is bugged. They kite outside of their range.
ANNOYING.. ARR
I manually ordered the Assault Transport to attack the Raid Engine by selecting the Assault Transport and right clicking the Raid Engine..
..yet the Assault Transport just sits there and doesn't do shit. I order it to attack a target and it just stays barely out of range and shoots at other targets.

It's not just assualt transports. I have had this happen with other ships too. Auto-kiting sometimes seems to bug out for some reason.
It seems more likely to happen if the target has radar dampening, but I think I have seen it even when it no radar dampening is involved.

Maybe certain ranges or angles tend to trigger the bug more often, IDK. I've never been able to reproduce it reliably.

It may not be JUST Assault Transports but it's ESPECIALLY Assault Transports..
..look at this guy in that screenshot..
It just sits there and doesn't do anything. It doesn't shoot unless I manually move it closer and order it to shoot.. and after that it returns to the "max range".. which is apparently.. more than it's max range.. and it doesn't do anything again. I have to manually keep clicking move shoot move shoot move shoot move shoot or it just sits there till the end of time.

EDIT:
This seems to happen specifically when attacking Raid Engines though this does sometimes happen vs other targets too. But specifically Raid Engines. Targets that stay still.. aka usually buildings/structures.. are the ones causing this problem.

What other ships are you talking about?  I've got a similar problem and it happens a lot more frequently now but only with assualt transports.

As I don't use assualt transports, the other ship type I have seen it most "reliably" with is spire implosions. But even those don't always do it.

I think I know how to replicate this one. Actually.
Like the line placing bug this seems to happen on certain angles. So when I attack the Raid Engine from the right (or wrong if you actually want to destroy the Raid Engine..) angle I will save the game and post it here later today.

I've noticed this issue especially when attacking fortresses with assault transports. I have to command them to move into the fortress between each salvo, or they lurk just out of range.
