Free DLC on the way in upcoming patches!
(1/1)
x4000:
Good news, AI War fans!
In addition to a pair of planned expansion packs (pricing TBA), we'll also be including free DLC for all players. During the first month after release, we'll have at least one free new unit, gameplay mode, AI type, or game mechanic per week. After the first month, we'll be adding at least one of those new features for free every month, even after the expansion packs come out in 3-6 months.
AI War is already a huge game -- it will take you well over 120 hours to see every current feature if you play full campaigns -- but we're committed to expanding it even further. So much of this game is about exploration that we want you to always have something new to discover!
All future patches for AI War will be free, regardless of when you purchase the game. We play this game ourselves (it's replaced our other weekly RTS sessions), so rest assured that we're committed to continually updating and expanding it!

So, the first DLC has already been released -- the Tachyon Drone, which is part of the 0.940 version of the game. But fear not! There is more free DLC coming this week, as part of the 1.0 version on Friday. We'll tell you more about it at the time, but there will be a new starship included as part of it. This new starship will be unlockable after Raid Starships are unlocked, so that creates a secondary Starship unlock chain beyond the existing Flagship-to-Zinth-to-Spire chain.

I haven't been keeping up with my posts in these forums, since the main page includes details on all the patch releases. We're up to 9 ships total now having been released through DLC since the game was first made public. That includes the new missile silo, 4 missiles, the tachyon drone (above), the leech starship, the anti-starship arachnids, and AI Troop Accelerators.
In this week's upcoming 1.004 release, there is a great performance improvement with high numbers of ships, a trio of awesome new control options (all suggested by player Maxim Kuschpel), and two new AI-only ships to run across: Core Starships and PermaMines. More on those will be posted later, but they basically add more variety and challenge on some planets on the higher difficulty levels. It's always nice to have new stuff to run into when you are out exploring the galaxy!

That's great support of a released product! I recently purchased the game from Stardock/Impulse's store. Don't forget to send them the 1.004 update as soon as possible, unless the patch-file downloaded from any source can work. Thanks.
x4000:
Thanks, Sorceresss -- we play our games ourselves, and we love to see them expanded. Impulse will definitely also have all updates that come out, though there may be a 1-2 day delay in getting it on there.
