I appreciate all the compliments! This new track was a work in progress for a solid 2 weeks, and I tried to incorporate a lot of the musical suggestions given to me on the music forum. It's melody driven, but has some cool ambiance as well. I'm glad to hear that you guys like it! Stay tuned for more previews on the music forum page.

It's a fantastic track!  Can't wait for the others!

In other news, it looks like Unity won an award from the Wall Street Journal:

The Wall Street Journal 2010 Technology Innovation Award

Quote
The Wall Street Journal noted that Unity is “simple enough for hobbyists or start-up developers; two developers used it to make the popular Zombieville USA app for the iPhone. They also are powerful enough for the largest game developers. Electronic Arts Inc., for example, used Unity to create its Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online game.”

And I remember how long the Tidalis installer took.  This shouldn't be nearly that bad, but I bet it's still got a few good whallops ready for you.

Nope!  It will literally be identical to the Tidalis installer, except a couple of different file paths.  That's the beauty of it, is that that's so straightforward.  That was the nice thing about all that crazy work from before, is that it all carries forward so nicely.

Are you planning to have it run the settings import app after the installer?  Or will it need to be run separately?

It will need to be run separately, it's totally something optional for existing players.

I love the new HUD.  All the buttons seem sharper and easier on the eyes.

and now the waiting game

edit: now AI war runs more efficently, is there any chance more of the unit icons can be made directional? the resistance ships and marauder dagger frigate icons rotate with ship direction like starships... it would be cool to have all fleet ship icons like that
