Cloaking Super Boosting problem
« on: September 23, 2014, 06:35:09 am »
For some reason cloaking super boosting breaks once in a while even though I'm have a Cloaker Starship in front and back.. and the stuff I want to cloak is in the middle. This way everything will stay cloaked even when going trough a wormhole.

But if going gets laggy.. for example when the AI launches a 40000 ship CPA the game starts to lag.. and then Cloaking Super Boosting starts to hug around. Quite infuriating. This only happens when the game gets laggy. I think the performance profile also might have something to do with this.

Does anyone have an explanation for this?

EDIT: Further testing suggests it depends on the performance profile. I was using Extremely Low so the game would go smoothly at +6 speed.

Profile only accounts for so much.  My big box can run the game on the 17 ms profile up until the numbers get high.

Once that happens, the game adjust settings on the fly (anecdotal evidence) until you either clear the wad of ships causing the slowdown or manually adjust the profile.  The you come to where once you hit the 117 ms profile and have a ton of ships that you can't clear fast (or in my case, you own) and the game starts lagging on its own.  You haven't lived until you have to play out a large scale battle at under 1 FPS.

If you can keep the AIs fleets relatively small then you can avoid most of this though.

Opened your save. My computer wept. Switched to the ST planet and ship icons filled my screen, so I zoomed out. Game told me that it _was_ totally zoomed out. You could seriously walk from one end of the inner grav well to the other without getting your feet cold.
