Explosions cause lag
« on: December 16, 2012, 02:41:16 am »
For quite a while now explosions have been causing massive lag. Because of this I have to play with explosions disabled. When was the last time anything graphics related things were changed? Has anyone else noticed this?

Explosions have never caused me lag.
What kind of specs/parts does your computer have? There might be some weird incompatibility?

They haven't always caused lag. I think it started after some patch. My computer is few years old though.
System
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core i5 CPU    650 @ 3.20GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
Memory: 6144MB RAM

Display
Name: ATI Radeon 5570
DAC Type: Internal DAC(400MHz)
Approx. Total Memory: 718

I don't know sht about computer PARTS. I can just use computers (remove malware, format, reinstal os and that kind of stuff (advanced user)).

explosions have always caused me lag for as long as I can remember, but only when the location of the actual explosions is crowded with ships. I'm ok with it though. My laptop has terrible specs. Can't even play games like left 4 dead.

Hmm, odd. I'll check when I get home tonight, but I can't remember explosions causing any lag before. But, granted, my computer is something of a monster so it's not guaranteed to be an issue on my machine. But I'll check and see if I have it also.

Given those specs, I can't see an honest reason why explosions would be causing lag. The extent of my knowledge would either be:
1. Your computer isn't good, which I wouldn't have thought to begin with
2. Some kind of mystery hardware incompatibility, which is one of those big challenges in developing PC games.

Disc fragmentation? Faulty RAM?
