I stopped using Sentinels when I figured they were too OP  ;D

I didn't like how they tended to trigger AI units at guard posts way far away causing huge amounts of AI units running toward you from across the system.  Way too suicidal on harder difficulties. I suppose I could just not attack with them, but thats not so much fun.

Don't Sentinels and Electric Bombers have some sort of Cluster penalty that weakens them if more are used in a single planet?  I remember that being mentioned somewhere but don't remember exactly.

They're still pretty nifty. Stronger than snipers (and with a different ammo type nothing is immune against), longer range and higher ROF than bombards, and easier to use than Golems or Spirecraft. Although their low cap might be tricky...haven't tried them in the newer versions.

Ah well, all hail my latest acquisition: Blade Spawner! Not that I like it much as a ship of the line (ha ha, as if), but having a ship type that participates in the battle while NOT having to be ordered around and expensively replaced all the time is pretty relaxing. And 100k damage per mkI ship every two or three seconds is nothing to sneeze at.

Spire Blade Spawner: well they awesome on defense and ai close near my uber force field at home (all mrk 3) instant repair, full cap MRS, they have no chance as well blades do some what target distance units on offense and u tend to have to go towards those units to get benefit from it

space planes: i love these things you can do deep striking well if you have cloaking boosters with them, love them as radar dampening and kiting. and good at siting out side force field guard post range and slowly taking it out.

Parasites: love them as they unnerfed just recently for able to reclaim mark 1-4. yay for buff!
AI War - even the smallest units can make all the difference no matter how weak they are still quite capable of taking the hits. if it can Kill and receive damage then it worth its time other wise if it cant kill and cant take the damage for the higher surviving ships then it is worthless.

I don't like Electric Bombers much.  Slow, poor in fleet actions, very few in number, are my main gripes.  If you're ok with that, go for it, otherwise give Chameleons a try.

Also, Sentinel ammo still counts as "sniper shots," so anything immune to sniper is immune to sentinel.

They sort of moved to where they, imo, belong, a supportive role.
You cant snipe entire planets of its posts, they cant hold of entire waves.
But a cap of them with a mil-CC has a rather good effect :)

I would have to say my favorites are Zenith Bombardments, just because I like huge single hit firepower. They're not very usable in the early game since they cost so lovably much.

Also, Sentinel Frigates are cool. Very good all-rounders.

I've just gone back to bombards in my latest game, and oh man.

Why did I ever bother with anything else? Bombards, I am returned to you. Let the dealing of DAMAGE! continue!
