Exo wave costs and strength list
« on: June 14, 2013, 04:16:22 pm »
Hey Keith. Mind doing another exo wave cost and strength value cost and/or telling me how to get the game to dump it and/or add a way for the game to dump it?

The reference tab export has columns for the tier and sub tier.  I think it also has a column for the actual cost, but the costs are determined entirely by tier and sub tier.

Thanks. :)

I guess this was a recent-ish addition to the reference screen?

It might have been post 6.0, I forget.  But not very recent.

Hey, exo costs are more balanced then I thought; just a few blatant outliers.

In general, the AI pays a little too much for Guardians and Riot Starships, and too little for other starships, but it's probably within the tolerances of the exo tiering system.

(Made with 7.0. When looking at the chart, bear in mind that it's logarithmic, so differences from the trendline mean more per pixel the further you go up.)

EDIT: Okay, going over the numbers, it's not actually that balanced (though the effects aren't really noticeable in actual games for the most part). Assuming the Strength value is a reliable estimate, perhaps running a script to reassign ships to exo tiers based on it is in order?

As I've said before I just want to get exos using the relative strength numbers and ditch the exo tier thing altogether.  The two things that need to happen for this are:

1) Making sure all exo-eligible ships have reasonable strength values.  Don't assume the strength values are actually appropriate to the power of the unit.  For many units Strength is derived automatically from ship cap and mark, etc, but even that can be wrong if the unit is not well balanced.  And some other units just have their strength assigned by fiat because it didn't really have a conventional cap (and/or not on any kind of conventional power scale) and the number assigned seemed to make sense.

2) Figure out an appropriate ratio for converting exo-budget to Strength-budget, so that the AI doesn't go from buying (for example), 10,000 exo-points to 10,000 strength.  The latter would be rather more fearsome :)
