Yeah, the threat doesn't start to climb until after the 60 second mark. it rises steadily and seems to peak at about 150 around the 2 minute (ish) mark. No where near as severe as the other report, but I haven't been able to deal with it haha.

I am rusty, mind. I've attached the save (54 or so seconds in, reproducible), hopefully it will be of some help :)
Taking a look now, thanks :)

FYI, already found a couple interesting things:
- Due to ship cap scaling, some of the ships are created with more than max-health and that health is then corrected downward during game-start.  That cutting down of health to MaxHealth appears to have been triggering "angered" status on the microfighters.  Read into that whatever you will.
- AI Fortresses and Melee-Guard-Posts were being counted as threat because they can move, despite not being able to go through wormholes.  I'm tracking down the critical point of this one so I can add the check on can-go-through-wormholes.  I suspect that a lot of the threat we're seeing is the former guards of the melee guard posts.

It's being a bit tricky still; basically the units that are still being freed (which is a lot less in 3.175 than it used to be, seemingly) are actually created during mapgen without a guard post; or at least after sync'ing they don't even have a guardedObjectFGNumber by which to find their guard-ee.

An AI unit without something to guard is a bored AI Unit.  A bored AI Unit is a dangerous thing.

Wrist cutting acknowledged!
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

716 release note
 ???

Scrap waves now come into effect when there are 100k ships in the game, rather than 100k.
