Well, if you really want something to make, I would like to have a module for firing "energy bomb" ammo, like a bomber or siege starship's shots, and I don't think any of the existing turret graphics cover the "big slow-firing single-shot cannon" role :)

Only if you're really looking for something to work on like that

Railgun and Railcannon modules also sound interesting; I could use the existing sniper turret for that, though it actually looks like a 3-way gun (iirc).

In any event, many thanks for the offer of assistance :)

I'm in the mood for techy sprites, so sure I'm interested. Been doing fantasy/2D-platformer stuff a lot recently and I need a break from all that, lol. ;D

Where would those modules fit? Basically, should they be the size of those on riot starships, or something bigger?

The riot modules are a good guideline for the mk I-III area.  If you look at the Ship Design screen we basically need things that fit into those boxes.  The boxes can be made larger to some degree, though.  They're currently 32x32 but could be 40x40 without causing wailing and gnashing of teeth (and if a really big one is 48x48 and runs over the edges a little that's ok too, so long as it's only rarely used).  The actual image side-length needs to be a power of 2, of course, but as long as the thing is centered it doesn't really matter how much transparent space is around it.

Thanks :)

Another thing, if it sounds entertaining, would be module-like versions of the heavy beam cannons.  Right now I'm just using the turret graphics but they look slightly out of place slapped on the side of a ship :)

Gotcha. ;) So basically, Heavy Beam Turret as a module-fied version.

Working on the modules right now, actually. :) I'm mostly doing 32x32 sprites, but an occasional 40x40 may be included as well.
