endless neinzul suicidecommando (possible AI-flaw?)
« on: March 02, 2013, 08:59:54 am »
I really like to use Neinzulships....but sometimes I think the reaktion a bit insufficient and predictable (its the only strategy that seems to work in every case, maybe exept AI-homeworlds and neighboring systems).
If I build 2 spacedocks let them loupbuild neinzulcommandos mkI-III (neinzultanks are even worse they destroy forcefields and fortresses much faster and are immune to insta-kill), set the spacedooks on freeroamdefender with a ralleypoint (not the building) 1-3 systems deep they will just neuter everything at a small till moderate cost.
The reaction of the AI seems to be an increased defense of the attacked system....and even if the AI has over 400 ships included (while I attack with all possible neinzulcommandos mkI-IV, lowest shipcaps), the AI will lose over time even if multible neinzul ships are killed per second and the neinzulships are weak against frigates wich are defending in masses.
A human player would attack my production-facilitys...and easily destroy them, the AI waits till every attacker is destroyed, but the everlasting supplies will easyly outnumber everything over time.
Through the reinforcements the AI sends from neighboring systems the hole region gets weaker.
At the moment this strategy seems to be an ultimate defence too.
If there would be an trigger witch causes the AI to sometimes counterattack even if my attack hasn't stop this strategy would be much harder (and more interesting :) ), such reaktions could be tyed to certain shiptypes.
I only tried this on difficulthy 6 and 7, maybe this problem wont ocure an higher difficulthys.

It's still possible on higher difficulties, but you have to crank it up a bit.  All in all it is somewhat OP in that the AI should probably be trying to counterattack rather than eating an endless swarm, but it's not a huge problem.  Generally if you have time and resources to hit the AI with an endless neinzul stream to break down multiple worlds like that, you had the time and resources to do the same thing in other ways.
