Easter Eggs
« on: January 09, 2011, 01:03:05 am »
There aren't too many in this game, but I have just come across one.
If you have advanced wave logging on, in the main thread log, its when the computation comes around to determining how many starships to put.

Anyone else find any funny tidbits?

There are others, but some of them are very subtle.  Some of the ways it creates planet names will sometimes spell out some specific stuff, for instance.

Wow, thanks for that just specific enough but still cryptic hint. Now I'm going to be obsessively scanning over my game trying to find this one. ;D

It's not just one, it's literally dozens.  A lot of the syllables can combine to form all sorts of words.  People's names, things like "boatmurdered," etc.  There's a bunch of them in there.  A huge portion of the names of cheats are super-obscure references to other games, literature, etc.  For example, "I can see my house!" is what the goblin zeppelin in warcraft II yells if you click him a bunch of times (well, one of the things).

Hehe, I got that one in one of my games, I thought it was just a coincidence.

I think my favorite planet the generator came up with was Icowhas, mostly because of how our little group decided to pronounce it (I Cow Has).  I really enjoy how the random names work.  My wife insists on having Murdoch every game, it took us embarassingly long to figure out why every galaxy had a Murdoch.

Yeeah... Why every galaxy has a Murdoch? Is it someone's surname or something? :D

On an X map it often(if not all of the time) seems to be the center planet.

Consequently, I always try to take that planet in my games, simply because of the name.

There is no city Mr. Murdoch...
