Easily the best expansion to date.

As I had said before, I hadnt really opened this expansion even though I had purchased it at the very hour it was put into beta, but now that I've had a chance to start up a game, I am floored.

I at first was unsure about the spirecraft as they often required so much energy that they were somewhat situational, yet once i started the new fall of the spire story mode, I have re-discovered this as my favorite game.

This mode is perfect for anyone who wants a more goal oriented game or simply wants to spice up the basic style.

I applaud how the story pulls together the other two expansion packs and even the simple text logs gives the entire game an enormously colorful personality, something that it could sometimes lack in the past.


I wish i had better words to describe how great this expansion is, yet I am currently running on three hours sleep and i certainly wasn't up to 4am studying, if you catch my drift!


If you dont own this expansion yet, you absolutely must get it as soon as you can!

I'm nine and a half hours in to my first Fallen Spire campaign and I'm having a blast. If AI War wasn't my all time favorite RTS before, LotS has pretty much sealed the deal. The goal driven campaign is a nice way to spice the game up. As I saw someone comment somewhere else, Fallen Spire is like kicking a hornets nest over and over. Coming up with strategies to complete each new goal is a great new way of looking at AI War. And I love the Spirecraft. So much pew pew BOOM.

Agreed, fallen spire is awesome. A few of my friends that had trouble staying focused on AI wars now like the game.

My only criticisms are that loosing one shard is the end of the fallen spire loop... and its the second expansion in a row to contain essentially no parasitable new ships. Parasiting, admittedly, used to be so brokenly overpowered this was irrelevant. But now that its both toned back in effectiveness and now fills caps...
I think "hint hint, nudge nudge" is the idiom I would use in regards to whatever expansion comes next. Admittedly most parasites are half decent fleet ships too... So having a slice of ships being immune is fine.

I don't know if you followed the development of LotS, but there was a LOT going on about Parasites and tweaking/rebalancing them to what they are now.

I don't know if you followed the development of LotS, but there was a LOT going on about Parasites and tweaking/rebalancing them to what they are now.
RogueThunder was responsible for a number of mantis issues involved in those changes, iirc ;)

There were a number of bugs and bug-like things in the parasite mechanic until relatively soon before 5.0; they're quite a bit better now than they were for most of this last dev cycle.  Certainly willing to hear what people think though.  Preferably in a thread where that's the specific subject :)
