Welcome to the board!

Thank you for your purchase.   On behalf of all the players here, We all like the game and are glad to see it's popularity growing.  Besides the more people who buy it,  the more time X4000 can spend making it better!  I am sure x4000 (the Developer) will personally welcome you to the boards and thank you himself when he gets the chance.   He's away on an unspecified surprise trip right now,  So i figured I would go ahead and welcome you on his behalf till he gets back.

Be sure to let us know if you have any comment, questions, or difficulties.   We have some rather experienced players around here and I sm sure we can answer most questions you might have.

Thanks again!
PhilRoi

P.S.  if you like the game now take a peak at the listings of what he still wants to pu tinto the game!  WOW!   if it's good now...  it's going to be amazing when he gets done with it!

Welcome to the boards!  I'm still not back from my trip yet, but I did want to just pop by to say welcome, and thanks for the kind words. :)  Glad you like the game!

The founder of the other company I work for loves to say that "a software product is only finished when it is dead."  He's referring primarily to how business software, operating systems, etc, continue to be updated for years after their release.  I think he's right.  Here's hoping this game won't be "done" in that sense  for another 5+ years!

Another, quite opinionated (refreshingly so) game developer doesn't let his games die even for a decade or more:

Yes, I spend too much time being a vicarious game developer. :(

Cheers!

Oh yeah, I read his blog, too.  Definitely a good one.  I prefer to grow it gradually over time, for the most part, but we'll see how things look in another decade. :)

oh i totally know this game will never be "done"...  i was just thinking in terms of checking off everything that exists on the todo's right now.   of course by then the todo's will be filled up and as large as they are now with new things.   so in that sense still not done ;)

Oh yeah.  The list definitely grows faster than it shrinks.  The more people who play the game, the more that is likely to be true. :)

For an in-game lobby, that's something that requires central servers, which I just don't have the money for at this stage.  The other reason is that I just don't think that pvp-style matching as you see in other games would be really appropriate here, since the games are so long and require so much cooperation (and coordination of schedules).  However, there has been talk of potentially adding XFire or Gamespy support, but that's just been lower on my list at the moment compared to gameplay issues, etc.

Thanks for your support!
