What's the OCS Home Core?
« on: May 14, 2010, 04:18:53 pm »
I just lost a single player game and a "Orbital Command Station Home Core" appeared at my adjacent planet.  It produced 100 metal and 100 crystal (better than the real home station :) ).  It could also move.  I've never seen on of these before?

Version: 3.120

(I have a feeling this will be with the bug reports soon?)

You get those when you lose in multiplayer, I don't think they are supposed to show up in solo play.

Really?  I thought that was intentional.

I can't remember at this stage.  I think it might be, for those who want to play onward after dying, yeah.  It's hard to remember what people requested at this stage.

I'd say it's worth leaving as-is, for that purpose.  An edge case to be sure, but no harm in it.

Yes :)

One reason is that a player in mp who has just lost his homeworld is probably not able to retake it and is thus down much more than just his command station's resource output.  Not that it's intended to make up for all the loss, but it does do so somewhat.  Actually, the difference is much lower than it used to be since command stations have been buffed a ton lately.

Couldn't it simply be that he has multiple homeworlds? Not sure.

I lost a single player and had the replacement station show up on my home world as I had not capped any other planets yet.
It didn't last long as the invading fleet was still in system. :D  Game recorded as a loss before the OCS was killed if I got the timestamps on the auto saves correct.

Odd, generally the AI ships just ignore the core after it spawns, when I've seen that happen :)
