I too am having difficulty playing on Normal speed. Granted, I have played 4X for about a year now.. Does anyone play on Blitz?  How do you defend against 20 guardians rushing you?

That being said, 4X is still available so I'm not complaining about that. It does not help that I feel like a total noob playing, since I have no idea of how my fleet do against an AI fleet. Will have to get some more experience under the new system.

I didn't even consider playing on anything other than 4X/Epic... :D

How one can switch between speed modes ?
I started new game on Normal and it feels too fast. Can I change it to 4x ?

And I think 4X can be confusing to new player - for me it implies turn based gameplay. Just call it epic(slower) and call it a day.

No, I'm prettyt sure you can't change the combat pacing while in a game. Only the actual game speed.

Maybe Epic/4X should be called "Default" and normal "Slower" "faster" and fast "Slowest" fastest

Normal only relates to the previous version not how the game should be played (its perfectly fast already at EPIC ,p)

And if new players chose Normal they will likely experience a very steep learning curve too.

Edit, Epic brain dysfunction detected... Slow and Fast and stuff ;p

So you want it to go SLOWER than Epic?

Wow, lol you are right.. eh i mean it of course EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE WAY. Lol  ;D ;D ;D ;D

So yeah replace slow with fast... what a blunder! ;)

Still its just an Idea - but the settings that are Default should imo be *called* default, thats basically the only thing i wanted to say heh  ;D

Honestly, I also thought AI Unity was _way_ more rapid of a game than in comparison to AI SlimDX; rather, you are now more heavily penalized for mistakes because of the decreased ship caps (which in consequence equates to less fleet mobility/adjustment, and perhaps one may not see that they are suffering major losses in illusion of the decreased caps), and generally how the game feels as of this moment, but I can't say for certain, though.

I use the biggest ship caps avaliable, so its more like the AI war I am used to ;)

With the new ship speed increases, I find even Epic/4X moves dramatically faster than it used to.

Only the human ships are faster, though.  The AI didn't get any speed boosts.
