Its not really surprising new features are the top, its either graphics/usability/gameplay that can still improve.. i don't think anyone here really wants any specific ship included if given the choice to get a properly sorting save menu (by date/name) or incremental autosaves.. though if its the directional fortress... (AI Specific Planet-related Scenarios) ;D :D .. but thats again a whole new gameplay feature..

I would actually (as always) ask for modding ability but i am not sure x4000 would consider this ,p I think a overhaul by modders could lead to much more variety and thus, people playing the game for longer ;p

Personally I agree with asking for moding ability at some point, but its not really needed till they step back and stop making such frequent modifications themself(though being able to test various balance aspects would be pretty cool).  Even if it was limited to playing with unit stats or something in a xml file, that would be useful.  I guess I've just been spoiled by civ4 :).

The only reason why I nominated formation movement, is because it makes ships like cloackers actually useful....

Otherwise, I guess http://arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,2736.0.html (deathmatch survival gametype)--a rather easy-in-theory implementation.
Sometimes, Spikey, I do wonder if you want to play AI War at all.  You seem to be looking for another kind of RTS experience much more in line with SupCom (et al).  Nowt wrong with that, SupCom is rather fabulous in its own way; I just wish my machine was fast enough to run it in the end-game phase.   ::)

Of course I do!  However, I do love having extra extensions of the game to increase its playability:  a deathmatch mode would be far more fast-paced, and therefore wouldn't require reloading over multiple plays, in opposed to the normal mode of the game.  I always enjoy a break from the normal AI War, and fool around a bit with some other "features" of the game, or suffice with another game until AI War pops into my mind once again (unless exams are imposed)!

Actually i kinda like that suggestion as well ^^

So question, do we get 2 votes in the vote? And how is this going to go down, forum posts with what we vote for? In what forum, and when exactly? ;p

Also how come theres only so few things nominated?

Yeah, as stated in the first post, there are going to be 2 votes per user in poll format (one vote for your own nomination obviously, and one to use on someone elses nomination). If you haven't read the whole first post already, you should, because that should explain everything. If there are any more kinks to work out, we'll work them out before the next go-around a couple of weeks from now.  :)

Unless people get more than one nomination, then it's kinda pointless to have the vote for your own idea...

If you weren't allowed to nominate your own ideas, and you only had one Vote, you'd eliminate two degrees of irrelevance that the current system sports.  But this is just a game, it's not like we're building a new Democratic Potato Rebublic, so it's not really worth getting wound up about.  The end result will be much the same, the journey there will just be a fraction more awkward is all.

I don't follow. Care to elaborate? If it's pointless to have an extra vote for your own nomination, then since they would ostensibly use their one vote for their own nomination, the voting results would then mostly consist of this:

idea 1: 1 vote
idea 2: 1 vote
idea 3: 1 vote

and so on. The deciding votes would be made by those who didn't nominate anything, and that really isn't fair.

Two degrees of irrelevance? If you have an idea as to how we can simplify the system without trivializing the results in the process, I'm all ears.... If we skip nominations, how do we decide what to put on the community poll?

Anyway, I dont think the current system is as convoluted as it seems on the surface. The main hassle right now is probably just the long wait to see any results.

That's kinda the point. Every idea nominated is going to be voted for at least once, by the person that nominated it (with one or two exceptions). If we were to cut out the vote for your own idea, then it would remove a large number of the votes cast simply because people have no choice.

A bit complicated than it should be?

I'll naturally vote for another idea proposed by another.

Shrug, we can reduce all of the ideas by one vote if we just require you can't vote for your own(assuming that everyone who nominated shows up to vote).

If we want to reward people for showing up to vote, then the 2 vote system works best, by voting for something else, you get a free vote for your idea.

I would rather have everyone vote once for simplicity sake.  (;

Firstly, I do frequent the forums and just found this thread today (23rd). Is there any way to get this whole voting process a bit more visible to the users like up in the header or something? I'm thinking that the sampling rate isn't going to be very accurate if we only get 15 total people voting and should be more prominent so that everyone will notice and take part.

Secondly, will only the top 1 suggestion be considered for implementation or will it be the top 3 or how does this work? This question is in tandem with the above concern of a low sampling rate with too few users taking part. Tomorrow is NFL playoffs and a lot of people might be preparing for that today already (parties, out of town, etc) and it might be a good idea to extend the first week until this process is clearly displayed for everyone. Just my two cents on the matter, but I'm only seeing like 15 people chiming in here so far.

I have no nominations for the week and will wait until the next one or two to chip in with suggestions. Perhaps there should also be a cap of how many items to vote on, as well. If there are too many suggestions, then some great stuff will get tossed aside.

I am assuming Chris will take a look at the top suggestions, then see which are most viable first; I guess there cannot be any single "winner" because they all will receive attention.

I agree that this thread (or poll, when created) be as you say, "more visible to the users".
