Community Game of the Month II - Nomination Thread
« on: February 26, 2010, 04:50:17 pm »
As the month is almost over, it is time to select a new game of the month for March. The user who posts the winning submission will be the one who manages it.

I haven't had much time at all to play AI war this month, so I have no interesting scenarios to contribute.

It looks like someone is just going to have to put one out, cause there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of interest.

I did last months GoTM, which I really enjoyed, but honestly I don't even remember any of it cause I finished it 3 weeks ago and there was a moratorium on posting about it.  If it's not going to be completed competatively, I think it would be nice if we were able to actively discuss the scenario, strategies, etc during the month.  As long as people are aware of spoilers I don't think it would be a huge issue.

The next person to run the gotm can have their own rules. I played my game over the course of the whole month so I took notes to remember all of it. I even took a few screenshots to accompany.

I think generally the most important rule that should be preserved across GOTM's is "Have fun!"

I'm going to nominate this particular game.  It's a tricky match, with an interesting planet layout.  The AI's aren't very defensive, and the AI's behavior makes it tricky.  There's a lot of options to tackle the galaxy in front of you, but you have to watch your back and don't leave yourself too open.

- Two difficulty 7 AI's, a Tag Team and Vicious Assaulter.
- Grid Type with 80 planets.
- 1 AI progress every 15 minutes.
- Ship types are complex.
- Trains are enabled, but you start in a system without train traffic.
- Fast and dangerous combat enabled (feel free to change combat type).
- Trader, Devourer, Rebel Colonies, Marauders, Mining Golem, Resistance Fighters enabled as minor factions.

I want to nominate this one:

 - 80 planet Simple
 - Zenith Bombards special ship
 - 2 Level 7 Camouflagers
 - Normal ship types
 - Marauders, Resistance Fighters, and Traders on
 - Auto progress 1 every 15 mins
 - Normal game style, but you can change it to F&D if you want
Avid League player and apparently back from the dead!

If we weren't going for your money, you wouldn't have gotten as much value for it!

Oh, wait... *causation loop detonates*

In my opinion, there needs to be a method of nomination and a method of voting for this to work:

Someone needs to:

Set a deadline for nominations
Set criteria for what info about an entry is required
Set poll for voting for the GotM
Set a deadline for voting
Allow a 'spoiler' post/forum for talking about the GotM.

Its such a good idea, just needs more organisation. :)
