Community DLC Suggestion Poll: Week of 9/5/10
« on: September 04, 2010, 08:45:06 pm »
The next round of community DLC voting is now underway! Lots of great stuff this time around.

The nominations that receive high amounts of votes will receive higher consideration to be DLC in the near future. If a particular piece of content is likely to be out-of-scope for the near future, it will be kept on a list of content we would like to see in the next expansion (Q4 '10). Please note that we may not know whether or not a suggestion will need to be shelved until after the voting.  Also bear in mind that this is Chris/x4000's game and inclusion of any content is ultimately his decision!

The voting will last one week.

Thanks for your participation!

Thanks for keeping this going :)  I apologize for the long hiatus from actually addressing these requests, it's been a string of crazy-schedule busters, but we're approaching a sort of light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel (or is that the train?).

No problem. I've kept up with them as best I can even while I took a break from the actual game (combination of work and other games... Starcraft 2 is amazing), but I started up a new game of AI war (release version though, not prerelease) last week and looking forward to trying out the prerelease soon and ordering the new expansion.  :)

FYI, I finally updated the poll results thread: http://arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,3651 ; found that we actually have implemented 3 items from these polls in the last couple months, so it hasn't been total neglect ;)

We'd like feedback on them, so specifically they are:

Unit - Carriers (won Week of 2/21/10 poll) (implemented as Neinzul Enclave Starship I-IV in 3.173 for CoN, 8/5/2010, feedback welcome) - http://arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,251.0.html
Concentric Circles Map (implemented in 3.173 for CoN, 8/5/2010, feedback welcome) - http://arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,3158.0.html
Rebalance/Tweak - Better Minefields (won Week of 4/18/10 poll) (implemented in 3.186, 8/20/2010, feedback welcome) - http://arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,4635.0.html

I never got around to say this, but thanks for organizing and posting these polls for the community Fiend.  I have this already posted on the Facebook group.  :)

As for my vote, I am sorry to say that I have to vote for my own idea because it has bothered me for several games now, because it takes too much micro/macro to send a mobile builder to EVERY allied planet unless the other player is helping you by building MK1/2 generators for you, and even until then will you need to be suddenly aware that you have X more power being produced and toggle them off (which isn't bothersome to me but rather for some of my allies).

--

Tiered alert was my second nomination because "the AI gets alerted if you so much as sneeze in the direction of one of it's worlds, but it doesn't particularly care if you dump 100 or 1000 ships on to one of it's planets."  :)
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

wait.. there are carriers in the con expansions? nobody ever told me!

edit: purchased \o/

oh fancy, mk4 carrier can make mk4 ships without spending the time finding a mk4 factory.. only costs you 20k total knowledge though o.0

You're welcome Spikey!

I voted for your idea as well, because 80+% of my game time with AI war is multiplayer, and it also annoys me to have to constantly micro my mobile builders and/or ask my ally to make me one.   >:(  ;D

Just stated to get back to AI War, and while I love the idea with these polls I fear I would most likely vote for something I had no clue about. :)

(back to normal work while thinking about the battleplan for the AI5 normal/easier 40 planet system. Wonder if Knowlege raid is possible with 1 of the 3 science labs.)

It's possible with a mk3 but it's meant to be significantly more involved and time consuming than it was before. You probably won't be K raiding unless you have no other options.

(a mk3 is immobile, takes a long time to build and ticks off the AI a great deal if they control the system it's in.)

Yea, K-raiding is for when getting knowledge the normal way is for some reason out of the question.

Though if you have some totally-neutered AI system in your backwater and a decent force to keep the provoked response under control, I imagine you could just grab that K without much worry.  But it does take time, attention, and resources that could go towards more forward-oriented progress.

If the poll closes this even, we may have to have another round with the front runners...
