AI War Video
« on: January 05, 2010, 10:03:32 pm »
I made a quick AI War video with XFire of an early game assault on an enemy system. Enemy AI level 5, Standard map, Microfighter starter (again :)). Sent a fleet of about 160 ships and lost about 20 attacking this planet, I am up against 2 Train Master AI's.

I have to re-code the raw file for YouTube but will have an HD video up there when I get a chance. 8 minutes of footage = 7.2GB Raw file though.

I know my tactics in the video probably werent the best, and will accept any constructive criticism :)

Nice video man :P. I hope it catches on; I really enjoy watching videos ;D.

I love the keeping the forcefield over the wormhole thing; a good strategy, imo. Of course you don't have to, but I find it easier to clean up systems if you pop the Command Center early; this strategy is especially effective if you have a FF with you, as there is virtually no chance that the enemy ships can get by, if you have a FF and a big fleet with you. But of course, if you're not looking for clearing a system fast then picking off the individual outposts is a good idea :P.

Nice video dude ;D.

Great video, but how did you record it? I want to make one video too, with added sound in the editing.

He uses XFire to record. You can use something as simple as Windows Movie Maker, which comes built in to windows, to edit the video.

Fraps is what I use for the official AI War videos, if you're curious.  I have a pro license on that, so it doesn't do the watermark, but there is a free version with a watermark as well.  XFire seems excellent, though, and a lot of players have used that.

As long as it's not over amplified screamo music.
