Community DLC Suggestion Poll Nominations: November 2010
« on: November 23, 2010, 02:59:38 am »
I think it's finally that time again (a bit overdue, actually...)

A new round of community poll nominations is up!

Here are the simple rules for Nomination week:

- One nomination per user, per round!
- Include the URL to the nominated suggestion topic in your post.
- You can change your nomination later in the week if you like.
- You may re-nominate a suggestion from a previous poll*.

Please format your nomination like this:
(nomination name) - (nomination URL) (user name)

Nominations will be compiled into the next poll for the week of the 29th.
(if we get a flood of nominations, I may go ahead and set the next poll up for next week)

*If re-nominating a suggestion from a previous round, there are no restrictions on doing so, but you should keep the results in mind when making your selection.
Here is the link to the previous poll: http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,6987.0.html
Here is a link to the ongoing poll results topic: http://arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,3651.0.html (currently out of date)

Important info: The nominations that receive high amounts of votes will receive higher consideration to be DLC in the near future. If a particular piece of content is likely to be out-of-scope for the near future, it will be kept on a list of content we would like to see in the next expansion. Please note that we may not know whether or not a suggestion will need to be shelved until after the voting.  Also bear in mind that this is Chris/x4000's game and inclusion of any content is ultimately his decision!

Thanks for your participation!
Time to roll out another ball of death.

Basically the same idea I submitted to the last poll, which did pretty well (tied for third, but only two votes behind the winner).

Might be worth expanding it to include AI plots as well.

I believe my suggestion for easier mechanics for building on allied planets was lost into the oblivion.
I'd take a sea worm any time over a hundred emotionless spinning carriers.

You could resubmit it on Mantis. It'd certainly be a nice feature to have.

allow the planetary sidebar through fog of war. This would enable you to click on a planet under fog of war that you have scouted and have all the structures that are on that planet clickable on the sidebar. This would center the camera on where they are located. It would make sense, as you can currently see structures under fog of war, but they are often hard to locate if they are very dense or populated on a planet(like playing where's Waldo with AI sprites).

Selectable ships on new game screen. This has been asked many times, and answered, but it may be time to get shot down again. The more expansions we add, the more customizability we add, it just makes more and more sense.

I've found it!  Building on Allied Planets - Spikey00.

I see that this suggestion was second in the last DLC--if it the intention that it be implemented from the last poll, then it probably nulls in this one.  I see it being a mandatory mechanic that needs to be applied sooner or later.

EDIT:  also on MantisBT:  http://www.arcengames.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=1799

I'll find it on Mantis later but Single Planet Suppression Controls is the suggestion.

You know, that one where you can use single planet controls to override galaxy-wide controls to build fewer engineers/remains rebuilders; not have your ships auto-FRD; etc.

It's been suggested by dozens of different people at dozens of different times, so the credit goes to everyone?!  :)
