It doesn't work as well as you might think, in a lot of cases, but it can be effective.  Another thing that is a bit more efficient is to put a forcefield generator smack on top of the other end of the wormhole so that enemy ships can't use that wormhole until they destroy the ff.

Of course, for both setups there are still the ff-immune ships that fly right through.

how do they destroy the ff if they can't enter through the worm hole?

Ok 2 setups here:
One is corralling them on your side of the wormhole using a ring of FF


2nd is covering the enemy side with a FF (which since it is on their side they can shoot at).


3rd use a FF and mine to hurt them and control the direction they exit
I often put a FF over my side of the WH offset toward my comstation attackers pop out on the far side of the ff (the ff edge closest to the WH right into waiting minefields they then have to go around the edge hitting more minefields and since hybrids like to retreat the FF blocks that
NOTE my com station is at the 11oclock position from the WH

Using ff to stall hybrids.. thats a sneaky idea I didn't had yet... :D
