How do you use the "ilostit" command properly?
« on: October 16, 2013, 04:06:06 am »
I found this command while i was exploring the wiki and it really caught my attention. Not all of my games are super serious and i like to mess around and test some stuff every once in a while and this here would be awesome to do that with.

Now, I have learned how to use the command.. for the most part. But the one thing I cannot figure out is how to write in a ship type with a space in its name.

For example, i could spawn stuff like snipers and bombers, but I couldn't find a way to get it to work when trying to spawn ships like zenith medic frigates or space tanks. I can't find the character that the code uses in place of a space, can anyone lend a hand?

I think you just ignore the spaces.

For example, in my 9/9 AAR, I did

ilostit,AIHunterKillerV,1,1,1,1

for an allied H/K Mk5.
Destroying humanity, one command station at a time.

Okay well I feel silly now. I swear i tried this once before but i got nothing out of it, but it seems to work fine now! Thank you for helping lol.

Update. It does work fine for the most part, but there are some things i cannot spawn, is this just not allowed or is there something else I'm missing? Examples of what I'm having issues with would be plasma seige starships, and guardians.

Might not be using the "actual" name of the unit, in that case.

For example I think Vengeance Generators are something like DarkSpireGenerator instead of VengeanceGenerator
Destroying humanity, one command station at a time.

Advanced logging shows them for the ones that show up, or probably a more comprehensive way I'm missing.

Viewing their sprite folders in the game files will probably work, although older units that have been renamed (e.g., missile frigates used to be "Cruisers," Plasma Sieges had all sorts of other names, etc.) may not work like this.

Unless their name in the code hasn't changed, in which case it might. I really don't know.

I can already tell this is going to be a roller coaster ride of disappointment.

I dont know how to do any advanced logging, but the sprite folder seemed to work for just about all of them. The only things missing are dire guardians and stuff like minor factions.

You might be able to find names for some of the ships you're looking for in my spreadsheet, here.  I presume one of the first three columns is what you're looking for.  You should be able to adapt what I wrote on the spreadsheet about how I made it to generate a super-spreadsheet with the names for dire guardians etc.
