Making cursed golem vulnerable to snipers
« on: September 18, 2014, 07:20:28 am »
Currently curseds are pretttyyyyyy OP. And they're just as terrible when in the hands of the AI. Getting 3 in an exo wave yesterday night was a terrible experience since they stayed at the wormhole and I didn't have a fortress or golems to fight back. Let's have both player and AI curseds lose their sniper immunity. And maybe every other golem should lose it too.

The Widow probably shouldn't lose it.

I thought the AI occasionally throwing really nasty stuff at us, resulting in terrible experiences if we didn't have the appropriate remedies on hand, was supposed to be good.  >D

Let the golems keep their immunities. They are supposed to be superweapons, both in the hands of the player and the AI.

In case of getting a bad golem combination that your defences aren't set up to counter, deploy the supreme golem counter that is unlocked from the start of the game: warheads.

Is there anything you can't solve with Warheads?  :)

This could be a slogan XD

There's a difference between challenging difficulty and frustrating difficulty, and now that I'm playing again with exo waves it often dips in frustration. Since it seems exos arent going anywhere this is an attempt to reduce the frustration of some of the exo waves makeups.

On the player side it's reasonably easy to avoid sniper damage with counter sniper turrets and scout starships.

As someone who plays nearly all games with at least one Exo source if not two, I've been on the receiving end of golems many times. Yes, they are hard to deal with. But they aren't impossible, and sniper immunity will not make that huge a difference. Further, given how strong sniper turrets currently are, I don't see any need to make them even stronger. The easiest solution to exos is to get a superweapon before the first one hits. You have to push things, but I've been nearly always successful at getting something that can help me stop the first Exo. Once I do that, exos just get easier. With the new turrets though, a layered defense is perfectly capable of taking down a golem. Finding the right solution for your map is the key.

I bet parking some Warheads next to the hostile Wormhole would do the trick.
set /A diff=10

I really try and avoid using warheads whenever possible. I've often won non-10/10 with less than 5 total for the whole game. Exos and homeworld cracking are the two most common places I use them.
