Prerelease 1.007K (bugfixes to J).
« on: June 23, 2009, 11:02:49 pm »
This is the last of the 1.007 prereleases, unless more bugs are found.  Most of these were caused by either TBS-Friendly pause or else the new style of waypoints logic, both of which were major changes under the hood.  Hopefully this irons out the last of the issues, but let me know if you find anything else!  In other news, I'm going to start stickying the most recent prerelease, so that that's always easier to find...

Here's the latest prerelease:  http://www.arcengames.com/share/AIWar1007K.zip

That version is an upgrade from version 1.006, so you have to already have 1.006 (or greater) installed. Just unzip it into your game folder (usually C:\Program Files\Arcen Games\AI War\ unless you specified something else). Please make sure that your unzip process keeps the folder structure from the zip file, rather than just unpacking all of the files into the base target directory.

What's new since 1.007J:
(Cumulative release notes since 1.006 are attached at the bottom)

-------------------

-In the past prerelease, non-TBS-Friendly-Pause mode would cause frequent "Waiting For Players" messages.  Fixed.

-In the past prerelease, there may have been another desync related to TBs-Pause mode.  Fixed if it was there.

-Ships on waypoint paths no logner group all into one big line like in the past prerelease.

-Ships no longer have incorrect collision-detection like in the past prerelease.

-Hovering over your current planet no longer has the "unknown path" parenthetical like past prereleases did.

Edit: Changed URL from J to K, since it should probably be linking to the newest version...  -Fiskbit

I've not noticed any new bugs with this; seems pretty clean. I think I had a case or two of ships stopping at some point after I told them to do something, but you're already aware of this bug.

Should be good for general release, I'd imagine. :)

Awesome to hear, thanks Lars!  I'm going to do some more testing on this myself, but I don't anticipate doing more with that stupid rare movement bug until after this release, simply because I don't want an attempted fix for that to break something else.  It's such a minor thing, despite its annoyingness, and hopefully I can finally nail it down by 1.008's official release.  At least it seems to be somewhat mitigated by the changes in 1.007...

Seems clean to me. I'd clear it for distribution if I were you, but you're quicker than me so you probably already did it  ;D

Thanks for the note!  Yep, it went out yesterday afternoon, but always nice to have more confirmation. :)
